Why focus on Well-Being?
Why focus on well-being? Whether you are a busy executive, professional, or an athlete, a sense of health and well-being helps us show up to be our best selves. Taking care of ourselves helps us show up and achieve more success, enjoy harmony with others, and joy and fulfillment. Recent Gallup studies have shown that increased well-being boosts performance and reduces costs related to illness and lost productivity. In short, incorporating well-being into our lives makes us happier, healthier, and more productive. Increasing our well-being can help us be more in tune with possibilities and have more capacity to respond to life’s challenges in ways that serve us better.
What is Coaching?
Bottom Line Up Front (BLUF): It’s a conversation with a trusted partner—your coach—to support clients in reaching their goals.
The International Coaching Federation (ICF) describes coaching as “Partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.”
Coaches honor the client as the expert in his or her life and work and believe every client is creative, resourceful, and whole. Standing on this foundation, the coach's responsibility is to:
Discover, clarify, and align with what the client wants to achieve
Encourage client self-discovery and learning
Elicit client-generated solutions and strategies
Partner with the client on accountability
This process helps clients improve their outlook on work and life, improve their leadership skills, and unlock their potential.
What is Mentoring?
Bottom Line Up Front (BLUF): It’s a conversation with a trusted partner—your mentor—to support clients in reaching their goals through the additional lens of offering experience, knowledge, and resources to assist client growth. Much like coaching, a mentoring relationship is co-created to help clients maximize their personal and professional potential to reach goals and gain new perspectives. Through a less structured medium, the client can explore different ways of approaching their goals and challenges and reaching their fullest potential while being supported by their mentor. Mentoring is not coaching and not counseling. It is a relationship based on sharing life experiences, advice, and sometimes suggestions about direction.
